Progress on the front of the building: Foundation preparation continues.

This is the back of the building. Workers are constructing an elevated, concrete area for the A/C unit. It is a large pit they have cleaned out and are re-fitting with new pipes and a new unit will be installed on top this Spring.

The foundation work on the new art and music rooms in the front of the school has started. Small trenches have been dug, and cinder blocks are laid and mortared into place...before too long, the foundations will start to give everyone a sense of the size of these new rooms...certainly a big improvement over the current spaces!

There is a lot of activity in the area of the new bus loop, but most of the work is "prep work"...moving dirt and other activity that doesn't look like much, but is necessary.

Overall observations 3 weeks into this blog: More trees down, dirt piles are larger and more fencing is up. Major progress seems to have been made for the new resource rooms that will go in the front of the building. Looks like pre-footing work.

Front of JBW: Length of first grade wing

.....a great deal of work was happening at JB Watkins. The trees were taken down in front of the first grade wing. Massive ground preparation began for the new bus loop area and two emergency exits were added in classrooms 119 and 121.

The two pictures above are the area behind the second grade wing where the new bus loop and addition will eventually go.One of the emergency exits is detailed in the photograph to the left.

Well, the construction work on JB Watkins is beginning! This past weekend, a tree removal company started removing some of the trees from the construction site, and heavy equipment (a cat and a roller) have been brought in.
